4C Reflections "beaches"

  1. Who is your classmate, what is the component category, what is the name of the choice?

Daniel Dieckman, Component B “beaches”, Pismo Beach

  1. What is something similar this classmate said about the choice?

He stated that beaches have a slower paced life and more laid back culture. Also beaches attract many different people and usually when small town with beaches, the environment and attitude of the people are usually shared with everyone in the town. Pismo beach is of a surfer type beach which means it is not fancy with high class restaurants and hotels but it is more designed for the ordinary citizen.

  1. What is something different this classmate said about the choice?

One of his stereotypes was that Pismo beach is stuck in the surfer town mode and I said that the water is always hot when it is mildly warm to cold. He also sated that Pismo beach has a population under 13,000 which I did not know.

  1. How would you relate this to Freire's ideas regarding dialogue? For example, you went in thinking one idea, your classmate had a different idea. What new idea emerged from this process?

By reading what Daniel wrote about Pismo beach, I would regard as it is a big tourist town but with the laid back environment. What I thought of the town was that it is mostly made up with people that live in Pismo or near it. It comprise of normal people who live in the area. What came out when meshing the two ideas together is that the town is known for having been movies but it keeps that beach culture within its town.
