4B Relection "world cities"

1. Who is your classmate, what is the component category, what is the name of the choice?

Genevieve Hubley, Component A “world cities”, San Deigo

2. What is something similar this classmate said about the choice?

We both stated the stereotypes of the people of San Diego are all surfers and have blond hair, blue eyes and are tan and all they do is live at the beach. Also San Diego is a huge tourist attraction city with its zoos and sports entertainment.

3. What is something different this classmate said about the choice?

Genevieve stated that San Diego connects to humanities because it is a place of diversity and diverse culture but I believe that San Diego isn’t that diverse and San Diego is more of a working city. It is a city for people to learn new things about life and learn about themselves through the fast paced of the city. San Diego isn’t a town for the laid back people because everyone else is zooming by with work and social life.

4. How would you relate this to Freire's ideas regarding dialogue? For example, you went in thinking one idea, your classmate had a different idea. What new idea emerged from this process?

I went into thinking that San Diego’s city life is so fast for an ordinary person living in the suburbs and Genevieve stated that the city is diverse. With my thinking and her thinking, I believe that we are both right, that San Diego is a city for many different people and their lifestyle. And it both connects to humanities.
